As to your last point I would argue that fantasizing is the best some people can do, or conversely, if your fantasies are so powerful that they're indistinguishable from reality to you, does it really matter? It reminds me of the existential discussions about what gives us the right to judge our reality as any more real than a so called delusional person's?
